A Horse Walks into a Bar

David Grossman’s novel centres on a stand-up performance in Israel. The comedian’s personal crisis becomes part of the encounter between performer and audience. Jessica Cohen translated the novel into English, with publication in Britain in November 2016 and the United States in February 2017. The translation won the 2017 International Booker Prize.
